Hike Distance: 7.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1292 feet
We primarily hiked the Huckleberry Trail from the Hardy Creek TH. A cool cloudy day with very few people seen. There was a tremendous amount of blowdown from the recent storms, and cleanup will probably take some time, but everything was passable.
I’m not sure how it happened but I had intense ankle pain about one mile from the TH, on the way back. I’ve never had this kind of pain before but it was exceedingly sharp and difficult to walk. I didn’t twist anything, and wasn’t on uneven terrain, so it’s a mystery. I had to walk on my heal or crouched down to make it back to the TH. My hiking poles were a lifesaver for walking. I took an aleve after it occurred, and iced it when we got home, and it’s very much improved. I’ll try and get to my foot doctor tomorrow.
