It was a last minute decision to stop and hike this short trail that was just off the Sol Duc road. We’re so glad we decided to stop as it is packed with an amazing amount of scenery for its short length!
After a short walk along a portion of the trail that follows the road, you drop into this old growth forest and wind around over a wood walkway. After walking over the walkway the trail skirts around and breaks out into a view of the Sol Duc river. Please note that we don’t recommend this short section of the trail for kids as there is some minimal exposure that could be a safety issue. Also, the section just past this first walkway has erosion under the trail, and I expect that it will eventually collapse in this wet environment. After passing by this river view you go back into the old growth forest and pass by some beautiful ponds, and we loved this area. There is then another wood walkway that you’ll cross before heading back toward the TH. This trail is amazing for its diverse scenery in a short trail!
