What an amazing weekend for hiking in the warm sun, for a change. We headed out to the Coyote Wall area for a short loop hike. The poison oak is out in profusion and difficult to avoid but not really a big deal if you stay on the trail. We ran into a larger gopher snake but it veered off into the brush to avoid us taking a picture of it. Plenty of Balsam Root over by the wall only spotty clumps for most of the hike. Without the wind we would have really overheated, so we’re thankful for that. We also saw some climbers roped in and scaling the basalt columns, and stopped to watch for a while. Mt. Hood just didn’t want to peek out of the clouds, so we didn’t get any good pictures of it. A truly amazing day in the fresh air on the east side of the gorge!
