Columbia River Dike & Steigerwald Wildlife Refuge Hike

Hike Distance: 7.4 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 696.8 miles

Elevation Gain: 178 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain:66057  feet

I intended to go to Mt. Talbert but there was a police incident that was occurring that shut down I205 and hwy 14.  I quickly diverted down another road to bypass the closure and ended up at the Columbia River Dike.

I was somewhat taken back by how high the water level was in the Columbia River as Cottonwood Beach was flooded, and inaccessible, in some areas!  The water level was so high that the canoes exhibit were flooded.  I walked around the area as much as possible.

The remainder of the hike was going east on the Columbia River Dike and then looping through Steigerwald Wildlife Refuge.

A truly beautiful day that was very enjoyable.
