Strawberry Island Trails Hike

Hike Distance: 5.0 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 972.6 miles

Elevation Gain: 307 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 103181 feet

This is typically a winter time hike but I was looking for a scenic trail with very little elevation gain.  Although warm, there was a strong wind, out in the open, that kept us cooled down.

There were plenty of flowers, and I stopped often to take pictures.  There were even some ripe blackberries and trees filled with unripe apples.  We found a great bench with a view of the Columbia River Gorge and planted ourselves there for a while.  It was difficult to get up and leave this beautiful location.

We continued our loop and were eventually getting close to returning to the car, but then, Carol noticed her sunglasses were missing from her pocket.  We backtracked and found them laying on the ground undamaged!

The best part about this hike was that nobody was on the trail system during our entire hike. 🙂  It was quite surprising considering it’s the peak of summer and should also be full of tourists.  A fantastic and beautiful day!
