PCT Trail Angel Hike South into Indian Heaven Wilderness

Hike Distance: 9.0 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1017.9 miles

Elevation Gain: 1281 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 108108 feet

A nice amount of backpackers, section hikers and thru-hikers seen while providing trail magic on the north end of Indian Heaven Wilderness, despite the poor air quality in WA.   I’ve only included pictures of the section hikers and thru-hikers. The hike started out with Mt. Adams shrouded almost completely in smoke, from the BC wildfires.  At the end of the hike we got a much better view of Mt. Adams. Thankfully, the temperatures were about 20 degrees cooler than in Portland, OR, which made for a comfortable day. The biting flies were out in force, with the mosquito’s becoming more abundant towards the end of the day. We met some great thru-hikers: “Queedzal” (spelling?) from Mexico City and “Professor Oak”! We were also fortunate to meet a 2015 thru-hiker “Teflon”, and had some great conversation! Some very fine section hikers were also met on the trail: “Remy”, “Super Dave”, “Pocahontas” and “Bumper”! We just about emptied out our stash of Oreo Cookies and a bit fewer of the VIA coffee packets.

A great day to be a trail angel!
