Tillamook State Forest Hike Trails From Reehers Camp

Hike Distance: 8.7 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1246.4 miles

Elevation Gain: 1108 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 131037 feet

We haven’t been to the Tillamook Forest for a while, so decided to head back to the Reehers Camp area.  It was so nice to have it rain all day, given that the wildfires have been burning out of control in so many areas.

Almost nobody on the trail, which made for a nice amount of solitude!  We started out by heading down to the Newhalem River.  As usual, this is a favorite place just to watch the river flow.    We then headed out in a loop on the Triple-C trail, which heads toward the northern side of the Gales Creek Trail.  Everything was so nice until we saw the MASSIVE new clearcut across the rive, towards the end of this loop. 😦

I was a bit depressed but we decided to head south on the Gales Creek Trail, which also had a large clearcut at the starting point near the road.  Once we got past this clearcut, the trail remained intact for the remainder of the hike, while going south!  We ended up hiking the 3.5 mile Step Creek Loop, and had a great time in this beautiful section of the forest.
