Milo McIver State Park Hike

Hike Distance: 8.2 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1400.2 miles

Elevation Gain: 1197 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 148699 feet

Being modern firearm hunting season, we tend to go to hiking locations that won’t put us in danger.  State Parks aren’t legal for hunting so we headed out to Milo McIver State Park.  This state park has an awesome trail system and we twisted and winded around the trail system in order to make a large loop!

A few highlights of the hike are as follows.  We finally made it to the Bat Barn, and were very excited to see it after years of somehow avoiding it.  We found a new trail in the forest on the SE side of the park, and it ended up right at the Bat Barn.

We knew there were some fruit trees here and Carol was able to pick several small, but extremely sweet apples to consume! 🙂

There were very few hikers in the park but a huge number of horseback riders.  All the people we met were very friendly and enjoying the exceptional weather.

An amazing day for a hike and breaking through 1400 miles for the year. 🙂
