A gorgeous day with plenty of sun!  Quite windy at the beginning of the day but that subsided later in the day.

Salmon Creek Greenway Hike

Hike Distance: 6.1 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1442.3 miles

Elevation Gain: 584 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 152647 feet

Another amazing day to be outside.  Some great fall colors, which showed up in the pictures very nicely.  Salmon Creek was higher than I’ve seen in a while.

Centennial Trail Hike South from Nakashima Farm TH

Hike Distance: 7.7 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1436.2 miles

Elevation Gain: 296 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 152063 feet

The last day of our vacation.  Since we’ll be visiting our son at his apartment in Seattle, we needed to keep the hike short and not a far drive out of the way.  This 29 mile long trail is quite the nice hike.  The trail is asphalted but it was still a pleasure to hike.

There is a huge parking area at the TH, with the Nakashima historic barn being the northern terminus.  We didn’t spend any time at this historic barn since the hike needed to be short.

My favorite part of the hike was the crossing over Pilchuck Creek, where there are some nice views!  Just a really nice trail with few people on it.  We’ll be back. 🙂

Cascade Trail Hike

Hike Distance: 10.2 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1428.5 miles

Elevation Gain: 208 feet        Yearly Elevation Gain: 151767 feet

It was a last minute decision to hike the Cascade Trail, mainly because of the blustery weather.  The winds were so bad that we decided not to be in the forest since the danger of trees falling was much higher.

The Cascade Trail is about 22 miles long, and goes from Sedro Woolley to Concrete, in Washington State.  We started the hike at a parking area just outside the Sedro Woolley city limits.  The views from the trail are of farmland and mountains.  The trail is fairly well shielded from highway, for the section we hiked.

Very few people were on the trail, but we attributed that to the poor weather.  The only issue we had was that there is a 4 hour parking limit at the parking areas?  I don’t get it?  Definitely worth hiking on again, and we’ll be back!
