Coyote Wall Area Hike

Hike Distance: 8.6 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1517.3 miles

Elevation Gain: 2085 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 163801 feet

We headed out east to avoid the rain and were successful in that endeavor!  We absolutely love this area, and today was enjoyed to the fullest.  Temperatures were in the 40’s, and the wind cooled it down even more.  The wind helped us stay cool since we had to wear colorful jackets since it is hunting season.  That said, we saw no hunters today. 🙂

We parked near the Rowland Lake area and hiked up the old hwy until we cut in at the first trail.  It’s a steep scenic climb, and I love going on this route.  There were plenty of mountain bikers and just as many hikers, but not too crowded.  After about a 1000 foot climb we headed west toward Coyote Wall.  We took some trails around the Burns Ranch, and then continued heading west.

After reaching Coyote Wall, we headed back down toward the old hwy.  We’re always surprised how many mountain bikers head up the wall so late in the day!  A fantastic day on the east side of the Cascades!
