Forest Road Hike

Hike Distance: 7.1 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1707.6 miles

Elevation Gain: 1777 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 190792 feet

When I started getting close to the parking area I began to get worried.  The trees were being battered by the wind!  At this point, I thought I would head out anyway.  There were some sheltered areas but as soon as I got out in the open the wind was brutal.  Walking into the wind was very difficult, and I had to turn around and go backwards at times.  I estimate the wind gusts were 50+ mph, and I felt pushed around at times.

Of course, wind gusts this high caused the air temperature to feel icy cold.  I’m glad to say I took the advice of my wife to take the heated gloves.  I also wore very good warm clothing, and didn’t much get through the clothing.

A beautiful windy day that didn’t disappoint. 🙂
