Finally, a cloudy and drizzly day, and a hike in a nearby park. My wife is going with for her first hike after the surgery. 🙂 Also, my son is going on his first hike, after a bad sprain (many months ago) during racquetball. Not to be left out, I’m trying out my foot after a sharp pain on my heel (on the previous hike).
We kept the hike very short, being concerned about all the issues we’re having. It was a very nice time and the views of Salmon Creek were beautiful. Not too many people out on the greenway which made it more enjoyable.
I’m glad my son and wife did well on this first hike. Unfortunately, my foot issue felt worse today, although it could be due to trying a new insert on my boots. I saw the Orthopedist yesterday and he was very helpful and supportive. It’s possible I did tear the Planters Fascia (no obvious signs were there such as bruising or swelling) but he’s optimistic it will heal well . He told me I could still hike but might need to slow down, and to take a few weeks off after the end of the year (I’m trying to finish the year off strong and mentioned my goals). He also went over proper walking mechanics to minimize foot issues. He’s also having me start some therapy to get a handle on the recovery. I also need to continue stretching, using cold packs and ibuprofen (as needed).
