A cold but exhilarating day.  The clouds cleared late in the hike and gave way to some warmth and views.

It started out very cloudy but still comfortable.  There was no snow at the TH but as we ascended the snow become more prevalent until we found ourselves in a winter wonderland!  We only reached an elevation of just over 3000 feet but the snow was 3-6 inches deep everywhere.  For a brief time it snowed profusely and was beautiful to see.

This was our first hike in the snow this season and we greatly enjoyed it.  Towards the end of the hike the sun started breaking through the clouds.  Our drive home was filled with a beautiful sunset.  A truly great day. 🙂

Today was such a nice hike with cool weather and no rain.  I kept waiting for the rain but it never came.  The start of sunset was gorgeous, but I couldn’t stop on the road and take a picture.

A deer shocked the crap out of me when it jumped out of the forest and across the road, and back into the brush!  It was so quick that my first reaction was stopping in my tracks.  I’m sure it didn’t initially see me or it wouldn’t have come out in the first place.

I also turned down an abandoned road and saw a large doe with a young one.  A great day for seeing wildlife!
