The day started out with a bit of drizzle but we had no idea how the weather would change. We loved the hike and saw some very beautiful areas along the road. Our favorite was when we crossed a creek over a nice creek.
And then it started, the rain increased significantly, and it was unrelenting! We had all our rain gear on, but that didn’t seem to keep the water from soaking our clothes. My wife’s hands were so cold and I gave her one of my mittens to help with that hand. However, it didn’t make a difference since the hand was already cold. 😦
The best part of the day was seeing NINE deer during the hike. 🙂 We almost never see that many large animals on a hike. It was too rainy to even try getting the camera out in this wet and blustery weather.
We finally got back to the car and were glad when the heater warmed us up! Unfortunately, the drive home was miserable, and it was sheeting at times.
When we got home I had to dry out all our clothes and equipment. Thankfully, we have a glove and boot dryer to speed things up. When I turned over the mitten that my wife claimed was cold/wet a cup (just guessing but it was a huge amount) of water poured out!
A fun hike but we need to go back when it’s not so wet, to appreciate the area.
