I got out late but just kept winding around the trail system at Whipple Creek Park. I’m trying out my running shoes as my ankles have been bothering me lately, and it actually felt better than using a much heavier boot!
The Trillium flowers are in full bloom and it was beautiful. Older plants get increasingly lavender in color. There were many hundreds of plants seen during the hike. It’s so nice to see the leaves coming out and flowers, and spring is a welcome season!
For the second hike I’m trying out my new Panasonic G85 camera. So far I’m pleased with the sharpness and colors in the photos. There’s a learning curve but I’m being patient.
Many people trail running and on horseback but not overcrowded! A great day to be in the fresh air.

A gorgeous day outside but it was still quite cool under the canopy. There was also a bit more snow than expected at about 2200 feet and above.
I really enjoyed the above average elevation gain I had today as it really helps loosen my back. The elevation also gave me better views of the surrounding mountains. I saw the tip of Mt. Hood but couldn’t get a good picture of it. 😦
This is the first hike I’m trying out my new Panasonic G85 camera and 12-60mm lens (24-120mm equivalent). It’s very lightweight for an SLR and I’m impressed with the electronic viewfinder. The focus is rapid and the pictures appear to have plenty of definition. I’m also pleased with the vivid colors. I’ve retired my larger sensor cameras for a micro- four thirds as they’re lighter weight and use smaller/lighter lenses. There’s always trade-offs and we’ll see how this works out.
A very nice spring day!

A nice long hike on a forest road and a comfortable temperature outside. I was able to connect to a previous hike I had done, and was pleased the road went through. Quite the enjoyable day. 🙂

Getting out late means I need to stay close to home, so this area worked out very well. I walked along most of the trail system, including the dikes on Frenchmens Bar. There was some drizzle but mostly just cloudy. A very nice day to be outside.

It was so nice to have good weather and we made the most of it. That said, it was fairly cold in the shade and warm in the sun. The spring flower show has a long way to go but it was nice to see the early bloomers! We especially like the bright yellow flowers from the skunk cabbage. We saw a couple of families walking along the roads, and the children were having a great time. We went a bit further than expected but our bodies felt good. 🙂
