Forest Road Hike

Hike Distance: 12.5 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 586.0 miles

Elevation Gain: 1252 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 75319 feet

In an effort to connect to a previous hike I ended up hiking quite a bit further than expected.  I’m glad to say that the road went through and I was able to connect to an area where I turned back due to time constraints.  I feel fortunate when the maps are correct but there have been many instances when the bridges over creeks are gone, and impassable.

It was quite the strange weather day with alternating rain followed by sun.  At one point a storm rolled in and the temperature dropped significantly.  I was concerned that perhaps there would be lightning and thunder, but it never materialized.  The storm passed and then the sun came out, and it warmed up again. 🙂

Although my lower back and feet were hurting from the distance, I recovered quickly upon getting home.  I wonder what the PCT will bring this summer, when I will need to hike much longer average daily distances?
