A late start had me thinking I should stay close to home. This spectacular greenway is less than a mile from my house, and can offer close to 10 miles of eye candy. 🙂 I didn’t have time to do more than an exploration hike.
Salmon Creek was very beautiful and I spent much time photographing along the shoreline. There were also plenty of flowers blooming, and that’s very photo worthy as well. Plenty of turtles were swimming in the ponds and I even photographed a Northern Flicker (woodpecker) on a pole! A surprisingly small number of people, for such a warm and sunny day, added to the fun experience!
I also tried out another pair of hiking boots, and this is probably the last of new shoes. The boots were Lowa Sesto Mid Hiking Boots and they were reasonably comfortable. I typically wear Lowa Renegade Boots so thought these might be a better bet for the PCT? They needed an hour to break-in, which is almost no time, and felt fairly good. I’m not used to the rubber sole and will put my green Superfeet in them to see if it improves the stiffness. I’m pleased enough to keep them for day hikes but will need further mileage to determine if they’ll be good for longer distances. They’re definitely much cooler than the waterproof and leather Renegade boots. We’ll see?
Many great pictures and excellent weather made for a relaxing time. 🙂
