Whipple Creek Park Hike

Hike Distance: 6.3 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 895.4 miles

Elevation Gain: 879 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 116836 feet

A quick jaunt around this wonderful park with some awesome sunny weather.  Not very crowded with plenty of nice solitude!

My right foot, near my little toe, has been having some intense pain after hiking about five miles.  I tried out a pair of Lowa Sesto hiking shoes, for my upcoming PCT hike, last week.  This spot near my right toe started hurting after trying these shoes for the second time.  The boots felt narrow but I didn’t notice much rubbing.  I decided to return them at REI andI have since gone back to my Lowa Renegade boots, but the toe still bothers me.  I noticed a small bump near a joint on my little toe and saw the left foot didn’t have that bump.  Looking up the issue on the internet yielded a preliminary diagnosis of a Taylor’s Bunion. 😦   I’ll be making an appointment with my foot doctor or orthopedist tomorrow, whomever is available sooner.

It figures that trying out all these shoes would give me foot issues I’ve never had before.  I really didn’t have a choice since wearing very heavy and hot boots, like the Lowa Renegade, is inappropriate for my first long distance hike in summer weather.  I now know I need a wide foot box.  I’m just hoping the issues rectifies before my PCT hike?
