What an amazing day providing Trail Magic on the north side of Indian Heaven Wilderness in Washington! We drove in to the parking area, just off Twin Buttes Road, and immediately saw Farmer Tom with his amazing Trail Magic setup.  We talked a while and soon left to hike south on the PCT and provided our typical Oreos and Starbucks Via coffee packets.

We didn’t expect so many thru-hikers on this section of the trail and almost ran out of goodies. We also didn’t expect such a blustery and wet day, but appreciated the rain after having so much heat and smoke in the past weeks.

We met 32 thru-hikers and had so many great conversations! All the thru-hikers were NOBOs and we were so impressed with how upbeat and in great spirits they were despite the weather.

We also met a thru-hiker named Farmer John, who at 79 y.o. is such an inspiration to all who look forward to continuing their hiking journey in the golden years! He mentioned having hiked the PCT for 30 years, and we wish him many more years of amazing adventures!

We got back to our car and found five thru-hikers inside their tents, staying out of the rain. We left them each with a few extra treats and a bottle of Powerade/Gatorade. Such a wonderful day.
