Whipple Creek Regional Park Hike

Hike Distance: 6.4 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1374.2 miles

Elevation Gain: 830 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 181663 feet

I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to go out today but it always feels good to go on a hike.  Getting out late gave me few options for close hikes but I enjoy this area for the forest experience.  When I arrived some people were setting up for a high school run that was going to occur tomorrow.

What really was different about this hike was all the moisture on the ground and vegetation from the previous night’s rain!  That said, it was almost amusing how the air smelled like mildew and dirty socks. haha  I was going to make this a short hike but was feeling better as the hike progressed.  I wound around the park in a counter-clockwise direction and followed some of the less traveled trails.  The color on the vegetation was vivid but the change to fall foliage is on its way.

About two thirds the way through the hike some clouds rolled in and it started to rain.  It wasn’t heavy but I put on my rain jacket just to keep it off my head.  I actually enjoyed being in the rain for a change, and actually look forward to the cooler and moist weather.  I ended the hike just after it stopped raining but was so glad I got out of the house! 🙂
