The first of three long forest road hikes. Today was a gorgeous day and we felt able and willing to make it a long day and hike. We initially started out on a previously hiked road and then turned off on a road that descended for a bit over a half mile. The road ended under some power lines. Our maps said the road continued but it was too overgrown to go further.
So we ascended back up the road and reached the main arteriole that leads through the forest. We were able to continue far enough to reach another set of roads we never hiked. We didn’t have time to complete these roads as we needed to get back home. We’ll be back to finish these new areas another day!
I’m excited that my wife will be getting off her cast, by the end of the month, and we’ll be able to travel further to more exciting hikes. She wasn’t able to drive with the cast and it sure put a wrench in venturing to new places. In fact, we ended up cancelling a long weekend vacation planned for the coast, due to her inability to drive. That said, we’ve planned a longer vacation early next year to make up for it.
A fun day with plenty of views (including clear cuts) and fresh air. 🙂
