A new forest road to hike and this time it’s near Clatskanie, Oregon. Trying a new area is both exciting and a cause for concern. You see, I’m always a bit worried that we may be parking in area where vandalism can be a concern. We haven’t been vandalized yet but it’s always in the back of my mind. Thankfully, this was a safe area and out car was okay when we got back.
Although the weather looked threatening most of the day, only light rain happened a couple of times. We did see rain falling heavily just north of us though. The temperature was in the mid-50’s and very pleasant, if not a bit on the cold side.
There were some nice views during the hike, which we caught on camera. Most of the hike was under the forest canopy and there were some really beautiful areas. Since it was a new area we ended up having to mark all the road intersection so that we could hike in new areas the next time we’re there.
We only saw one vehicle on the road and there were two hunters in it. We also heard plenty of shooting nearby, which was probably target shooting. We avoided the roads that appeared to lead us closer to the shooting!
On our drive back home we saw a gorgeous rainbow overhead. A great way to end the day and a beautiful day to be out hiking.
