Forest Road Hike

Finally, a fairly cold day of hiking but with sunny skies!  We were under the canopy for most of the hike and walked in and out of cold pockets of air.  We were plenty warm but our hands never quite warmed up.

Since this was a small family hike we didn’t go too far and just concentrated on the conversation and enjoying being outdoors.  We needed to be back early so we could babysit our grandkids, and this caused us to cut the hike short.  In addition, we meandered around and lost track of where we were and how far back to the car we were.  It ended up that we were in a new area, and my smartphone app didn’t even have the roads on it.

This being the last full weekend of hunting season we saw a huge number of hunters driving around.  Everyone waved and a few even stopped and we had some nice conversations!  We’re still wearing blaze orange jackets and pack covers so nobody could mistake us for elk.

We’re going to have to come back and explore the area when more time is available.  Such a lovely day. 🙂
