Hike Distance: 7.9 miles Yearly Hike Distance: 64.3 miles
Elevation Gain: 1059 feet Yearly Elevation Gain: 6336 feet
The big news about today’s hike is that we hiked two consecutive days, each over 7 miles and 1000+ feet of elevation gain! This had to be the muddiest set of roads I’ve ever seen. It was obvious that the roads were being prepared for possibly logging? I felt like we were walking on slimy gel, which made me feel like we were risking twisting our ankles and knees.
I was particularly concerned about my back, and this turned out to be a real issue. 😦 About seven miles in I got a sharp pain in my back, and thought, oh crap! I had been walking carefully but obviously that wasn’t enough. Amazingly, the back pain resolved after a few minutes and we got back without another issue.
Definitely a beautiful day, and cold, and so glad we made it out. I won’t be visiting this area again, until it’s dry, due to the muddy mess.
