Hike Distance: 6.4 miles Yearly Hike Distance: 231.8 miles
Elevation Gain: 705 feet Yearly Elevation Gain: 27913 feet
Just trying to extend my streak of hikes with no back issues to two days! I thought a bit more elevation gain would be a good test of whether most of my previous day’s philosophy would work here. So, I went slowly and kept good posture and a symmetrical gait, and it seemed to work fairly well. 🙂
We stayed at a low altitude to avoid any significant snow, and the possibility of twisting my hips, knees or ankles. There was still some snow but most had melted. It also stopped drizzling and we saw some sun come out late in the hike.
Other points of interest were seeing a collapsing road and great views of Silver Lake! We also watched some red-tailed hawks saw soaring high in the sky. These birds are both beautiful and graceful fliers. We also surprisingly saw some wild horses in the distance. We always wondered why there was so much horse poop all over the roads. haha
Definitely another nice day in the great outdoors.
