Frenchmen’s Bar Regional Park Hike

I’m starting to think that my future trip reports, for local hikes, won’t contain as much detail as our weekend hikes.  My rationale is that I tend to do these hikes often and there’s not much new to say about them.  I really enjoy these hikes but don’t think most other people are interested in frequent reports on the same local locations, and it’s difficult to add something new about the trail system.  In addition, I hike so often that it’s not possible to take a long drive, to a new and exciting location, five or more days per week.  The truth is, many days I just don’t want to get up early and take a long drive for a short hike, especially when I’m alone.

That said, I’m still planning on many exciting hikes this year, and plenty of backpacking.  My wife and I have also planned three vacations for the remainder of 2019, and those will contain many new and remote hikes!  We’re also planning on continuing our PCT Trail Angel activities, and will report on all the great thru-hikers and section hikers we meet!

I was moving fairly slowly today to try and make this hike as painless to my back as possible.  Slow and steady was the plan, and I followed through with that.  I watched all the large cargo and container ships along the Columbia River, and took plenty of pictures.  This was the first time I ever found a syringe on the beach, and it definitely bothers me. 😦   All in all a nice day was had.
