Frenchmen’s Bar Area Hike

Hike Distance: 5.1 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 329.3 miles

Elevation Gain: 188 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 36454 feet

This hike marked the beginning of using 4mm inserts in my right hiking boot, to compensate for my left leg being 11mm longer.  I can summarize the effect of the inserts by saying that my entire lower back was in pain.  In fact, I even had a sharp pain in my right SI joint, and this isn’t the one with the problem. 😦  I’m just going to have to try these and see what happens over time.  Today, this told me that the insert can change the entire dynamics of my back during hiking.

The hike today was very nice and the cloud formations made for some great photo opportunities!  There was some rain but not as much as expected, and most of it went around where I was.  The wind was very impressive and picked up as some of these storms rolled in!  I really enjoy being out in weather like this.  It makes me feel alive. 🙂
