Yet another day of getting out late, but I wouldn’t miss such a gorgeous day to be outside. When I arrived at the parking area there were plenty of workers putting down new asphalt at the entrance hut. The entrance road to this park has needed this new surface for some time, and it was a welcome sight!
In this weather, and time of year, the number of people fishing is substantial, as I’d expect. The lake was beautiful, as always. I only saw one woman on horseback the entire day, and the solitude was nice.
The highlight of the day came near the end of the hike. I saw something move uptrail, and froze. It turned out to be a lone deer, and it heard but didn’t initially see me! I was motionless for about 10 minutes while it kept a close eye on me, trying to decide if I was an inanimate object or predator. I was able to get my camera out and snap away! It didn’t seem to know which I was and chose to skirt around me, but it was not in much of a hurry. A very nice encounter with the local wildlife, and photographic opportunity! A great way to end the day. 🙂
