Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge Hike at Carty Unit

Hike Distance: 4.3 miles      Yearly Hike Distance: 1078.4 miles

Elevation Gain: 200 feet      Yearly Elevation Gain: 135595 feet

We headed out to the Carty Unit of the Ridgfield Wildlife Refuge.  The Oaks to Wetland portion of the refuge was still closed, so we headed south toward Carty Lake.  It appeared there wasn’t going to be much of a hike, given the closure of the Oaks to Wetland trail.  However, When we hiked past Carty Lake we found that access to the southern end of the Wildlife Refuge was open, and we could now access a small trail system at the Port of Ridgefield.  We only scouted out this new area, but planned to come back in the future.

A nice cloudy day but great for taking photos!
