Not much time to get out as we needed to finish by 3:30pm due to a time commitment. We haven’t been to Forest Park in a while so it seemed obvious to hike there today. We parked next to the Portland Zoo and then proceeded to hike all the trails leading to Hwy 26.
We then turned around and headed into the Vietnam Memorial, which is also a very melancholy experience. Next we hiked a multitude of trails in the Hoyt Arboretum. The trail density in the Hoyt Arboretum is insane, and would be difficult to explain to people in a trip report. Suffice it to say that we meandered around many trails, and were trying to fill complete trails we had never done before.
It was very crowded today, and despite the low clouds and cooler temps. We didn’t drink much because of the inability to find a secluded place to pee. 😦 The unique thing that happened today was meetin a wonderful couple named Carlos and Diane. We struck up a nice conversation with them, and spent about 20 minutes talking.
We’re glad we came here, despite the crowd!
